Today, on International Youth Day, we celebrate the courage, creativity, and determination of young people everywhere especially those whose voices are too often unheard.
The 2026 theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” speaks directly to our reality. Across Ethiopia, young people live in vastly different contexts: some in cities, many in hard-to-reach and marginalized communities. Yet our aspirations remain shared to participate meaningfully in the decisions that shape our lives, to strengthen social cohesion in our communities, and to move from dialogue to real, lasting change.
Through the CSIF II project and our Youth Civic Labs: From Dialogue to Design for Social Cohesion in Hard-to-Reach Ethiopia, we are creating spaces where marginalized youth can:
- Engage in open and constructive dialogue
- Design practical solutions that build social cohesion
- Strengthen their political participation and civic voice
- Lead change in communities that have long been left behind
We believe that true social cohesion is built when young people from different backgrounds sit together, listen to one another, and co-create solutions. Political participation is not only about elections — it is about having a seat at the table in everyday decisions that affect our communities.
On this International Youth Day, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that marginalized and hard-to-reach youth are not just included, but are leading the way — from dialogue to design, from conversation to action.
To every young person in Ethiopia and beyond: Your context may be different, but your voice matters. Your ideas matter. Your leadership matters.
Together, we continue the journey — from dialogue to design, for a more cohesive and inclusive Ethiopia.
Happy International Youth Day 2026!
